Perseverance
 What I do to keep moving forward on the narrow path.
All these things on my list provides a gift of Grace from God. I feel I am stronger in my relationships with family, friends, neighbors and co-workers. I can endure in my own trials and tribulations, because of the mysteries of the rosary. Participation in the Eucharist fortifies my soul and strengthens me. Being on a counting ministry has led to team building and working together with my faith community. The Saints have so much to offer because they are the trail blazers for us. They offer words of encouragement and provide examples of perseverance and many other virtues. |
The cross that Jesus carried to Calvary demonstrates immense perseverance. It is the ability to endure difficulties and remain grounded in faith. This is one of my prayers I ask God for a lot, Lord keep me grounded in my faith. Keep my feet planted firmly where I stand. It is closely related to Fortitude, which enables you to confront fear and endure suffering. We really have to be committed to God's plan and will for us so that we can grow continually in holiness.  |
Look again at the Sorrowful Mysteries
Each mystery gives you a chance to see the virtues of Fervor in Prayer, Courage and Fortitude to endure physical pain, Humiliation from receiving buffeting, Patience having to bear others burdens and finally Perseverance of facing death and trusting in eternal life with God.
Which mystery stands out the most to you? How does one in particular make you feel?
Is there one or two that moves you outside your comfort zones?
I asked these questions for you to really think about how deeply you are moved in a good way or even in a bad way. The Holy Spirit could be nudging you to look again, inside you.
Jesus was mocked and crowned with thorns, having to endure humiliation and being ridiculed because the roman soldiers didn't believe who he was.
Does this push you to persevere when you personally are faced with humiliation. Sometimes we accidentally fall down and first thing we feel is stupid. Then we look to see if anyone saw this, because of humiliation that sets in.
Maybe you have faced discrimination at work, and you have to stand firm in your values and faith. But someone else doesn't believe you.

I need all the strength I can get to build this website. Every day I try to persevere through my day of not feeling like I want to work on anything new. Or reread a page to make sure its correct. Or the worse of it, having to read instructions to build a successful website.
In order for me to get through my tasks of the day, I pray to God and ask Him to help me with Perseverance today.

Obstacles Sometimes we may be excited to practice perseverance and then suddenly fear or anxiety sets in and we abandon our goals. |
Benefits Perseverance leads us to a deeper faith and greater maturity on our spiritual journey. |

Not having immediate gratification can distract us from our spiritual goals. |
We need to learn to trust in God which then we will feel that sense of peace. Which will encourage you to go on. |

Being told we are wasting our time by others can make it difficult to persevere. |
When we persevere thought our challenges there are great rewards for us. Love and strength with our relationships. |
