Fervor in Prayer

Virtue of Fervor in Prayer

Califon Trails 305

Prayer is our lifeline of our spiritual journey.
Fervor of prayer stands out as a passionate and intense devotion that is our connection with the Divine.

It has always intrigued me about Jesus's prayer at the Rock in the garden. "Let Your will be done, not mine".

Being very passionate about our prayers is what make our prayers so personal with God.

Prayer, I believe is a vital aspect of our spiritual journey. I told a story about my climb up Cross Mountain in Medjugorje. In that story it's important NOT to become complacent with God. Yes, He is with us all the time, but he doesn't want to be ignored.

Remember we can draw a lot of strength through meditation and contemplation of the Sorrowful Mysteries especially the Agony in the garden.

Let's try to pray with the same intensity that Jesus did. I know I can learn a lot from this scene and Jesus. I want what He has so I can love God so deeply.

My Practices of Fervor in Prayer

We must be intentional in our prayer practices. Having a place to go that no one else can hear you speaking with God is important. Like your own little corner in the house that is comfortable. For me it's the same place I go when I am in meditation with God. Meditation silent prayer is just as important and having words for reciting a prayer like the Our Father, Glory Be or the Hail Mary.

I don't think there is any set way of praying as long as you are speaking with God. Having an intimate conversation with our Father. Now I'm sure what we ask for is important in our spiritual growth. An author once wrote in his book that God is not Santa Claus.

I say my prayers mostly at night, thanking Him for my day and then speaking about what may be on my heart.  Sometimes I just hold the Rosary in my hand and think about Jesus and the Mysteries of the Rosary. Or maybe a specific moment of scripture.

I should do this more often, which is spending time in Adoration with our Lord. I try to write and tell you my truths, so you don't think I am just filling words up on this website. No this is my journey to, and I am surely far from perfect. I hope as time goes on, I can come back and add to these writing to show growth.

Back to the Blessed Sacrament of Adoration, I know when I do sit quietly in adoration, I can feel our Lord looking at me. Adoration time for me is truly a piece of Heaven on Earth time.

What are our Challenges and Rewards

I was awakened from a deep sleep at 3:00 a.m., they say this is an important hour.

I had a dream that my brother was going to take his life and was taunting me in my dream.

So, I sat up in Fervor Prayer to God and did not stop praying until I felt a release in me that God heard my prayers.

To this day I don't really know if the dream would have come true, but the sudden feeling to pray was needed to change the trajectory of something. I believe that it did. I may not know this right now in this lifetime, but someday I may.

Rocks for me signify challenges, struggles and also being grounded and firmness like Fervor in Prayer

Challenges

Dryness - I have experienced spiritual dryness, and I can say I don't like it. This is where I lean hard into the quiet presence of meditation, and I wait with a trusting heart on God.

Rewards

The most profound thing about Fervor in Prayer is a deep intimate relationship with God. God giving us a chance to experience His love and guidance.

This world is full of distractions. Sorry to have to say, but a lot of times in church there is just to much talking. I go early to have a moment to prepare myself to receive God, to remove myself from the world and its chatter. This is a challenge for me.

Through time in prayer, we will receive peace.

Busy schedules, I just mentioned that about Adoration that I should do it more often. I'm just as weak as others may be, but these are the challenges that I ask God to help me with in Prayer. I pray in my car many times going to work and coming home. Sometimes just at my desk.

Remaining steadfast in our faith. Gaining the strength that will help us resist temptations. Fervor and Prayer can do this.
