Lourdes Lower Station 09 of the Way of the Cross signifies Jesus's third fall.
I don't believe that Jesus is weak He may be exhausted but not weak. He is determined to finish the Divine Plan that was started by the kiss in the garden.
This is a powerful reminder of the cost of human sin and suffering Jesus endured for our salvation. By reflecting on the virtues that Jesus embodies in this station, we can learn a valuable lesson about having to respond to our own sufferings.
Jesus Fall the Third Time Under the Cross
V. We adore Thee, O Christ,
and we praise Thee.
R. Because by Thy holy Cross,
thou hast redeemed the world.
My outraged Jesus, by the merits of Thy weakness suffered in going to Calvary, give me strength to conquer all human respect, and my wicked passions, which have led me to sin.
The Way of the Cross of Saint Alphonsus Liquori
Our Father...
Hail Mary...
Glory Be...
v. Have Mercy upon us O Lord.
r. Have Mercy on us.
May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Love for humility in His willingness to suffer for our salvation. Even during his walk to Calvary as exhausted and scarred with cuts and mocking jeers, Jesus still stops to acknowledge those around Him. Who Mary His mother, Veronica, Simon and the women of Jerusalem. This is a true example of selfless love that God has for us.
It's a long walk to make with a heavy wooden Cross yet Jesus has patience to persevere to the end. A reminder of the importance of endurance and hope.
Jesus remains humble and does not complain or lash out. His humility is a lesson for us to learn how to respond to adversity. He accepts His fate with dignity and grace.
He does not give up an example of fortitude and courage for all who are witnessing His sufferings.
Keep in mind His obedience to God despite the suffering of this journey to death. His obedience to God is a testament of His love for God and fulfilling his mission.
My first thoughts of this fall push me to my limits. Is my faith strong enough to endure what is put in front of me? Jesus, I need you. I of my own self can do nothing without you, my Lord. I am keeping my eyes on you Lord every day. How many times will I fall throughout my lifetime?
